Race to Recover: Mission Earth
Pre-conference workshop (2.5 hours)
Workshop description
Mission Earth is under attack. An AI-driven adversary has compromised the cloud application powering a fictional planetary monitoring network. Critical observations are changing, dashboards are becoming unreliable, and the next mission decision depends on data your team can no longer trust.
Step into a team-based, Capture the Flag-style workshop that combines a controlled agentic attack simulation with security response and application recovery. Investigate the evidence, contain the damage, and use Clumio to recover affected data without unnecessarily undoing valid changes. Earn flags by solving engineering challenges, not simply completing restore jobs.
Your final challenge: prove that Mission Earth's application is ready to operate again before the clock runs out.
What you will take away
- Trace an AI-driven attack's impact on application data and behaviour, and identify the evidence needed to scope and contain the incident.
- Make justified recovery decisions that balance urgency, data loss, dependencies, and preservation of valid changes.
- Verify recovery through repeatable data-integrity and application checks, and translate the exercise into a practical recovery checklist.
Prerequisites
Bring your own laptop.
